Is what you're living for worth Christ dying for?
I saw this question online last week and it really hit me hard. I had so many goals for the summer, so many things I want to do and to accomplish. But of course, hardly any of those things have gotten done. I got a taste of freedom from the rigors of school and have thus spent a month doing little more than read and watch movies and run. But that changed when I read that question.
Christ died so that we could live, so that I could live. And every day that I do nothing but read and watch movies and run is a precious gift that I've wasted. Not that those are bad things, but when I don't do anything else life becomes pointless. Christ didn't die so that I could spend each day looking for entertainment. A General Authority once said that some young people, (and I believe any-age people) are amusing themselves to death -- spiritual death.
That question has been my motto for the past few days. Before I do anything I ask myself, did the Savior die so that I could stare at a screen, or so that I could spend hours reading a story I'll forget tomorrow, or so I can sit and stew about what so-and-so said or did to upset me? No. The Savior died so that I could serve my fellowman, so that I can gain all the knowledge I can, so that I can spend each and every day trying to improve myself, to be a little better than I was yesterday, and ultimately come to be like my Savior and live with Him and Heavenly Father again someday.

What are you living for?
That is a good question and you've given me a good answer to think about. Thank you.
