The Middle of My Super Cheesy Story

*Preface to this post: I wrote this several months ago and for some reason didn't publish it. So I came back here to delete it, only to realize that it was basically finished and it's really cute and I have a really hard time just erasing anything I've written. So here you go. :)

I never dated anyone before Jason. Sure I've gone on lots of dates, and I've been obsessed with boys ever since I was twelve, but exclusively dating one person is a lot different. And it hasn't all been easy, learning to compromise with each other and understand the nuances of our personalities and figuring out how to mesh our lifestyles and priorities. But man I wouldn't trade it for anything because I've had more fun in the last six months than I ever have in my whole life.

So...yeah. This is pretty accurate
The third day we were dating we looked up our zodiac signs, only to learn that we are supposedly completely incompatible and our only hope for having a successful relationship was to establish a very strong, completely platonic friendship, for YEARS. At that point I'd known him for three weeks. Turns out zodiac signs don't know everything.

There was this one time when we went to a ballroom dance event with my friend Cambree at BYU, and Jason and I were the only two there that had no idea how to ballroom dance. But did we let that stop us? Of course not! We realized we have absolutely no future as dance choreographers, and we got a heck a lot of weird looks from those BYU kids, but boy we sure did have fun.

For the entire month of December we basically didn't do anything except watch Hallmark movies and stay up until 3:00 every morning talking about everything under the sun and getting to know each other.

We spend most weekends with either his family or my family, which is tons of fun. I love that Jason makes family a priority, and because of him I've maintained a strong relationship with my family even though I don't live with them anymore.

We like to go running and sometimes we stop and swing on the swings at the elementary school or visit the doxen statues on campus.

We won those mustaches with
our air hockey skills.
Except actually we didn't, we
just borrowed them from
Amanda and her date.
We went on a double date with Amanda and one of his old mission companions to an arcade in Provo, where we discovered that I am the air hockey champion of this relationship. Every once in a while we have rematches at the institute but he hasn't beat me... yet.

Speaking of institute, this semester we've been taking an Eternal Family course on Thursday nights and that's been super fun. I love hearing his insights into the gospel and seeing how he makes it a priority in his life. Over the summer we're taking a Dating and Courtship class that conveniently ends the week before we get married.

We went and hiked the Y in the rain and listened to Disney songs the whole time and ran back down the trail with our arms out like airplanes.

K, so... our queso is the bomb.
Sorry that was a really cheesy joke.
A few weeks ago we attended the Jordan River Temple open house with my family. Both of our parents were married there, and walking through the temple with Jason was a surreal experience. He taught me about the instruction rooms and the celestial room, and I loved standing in the sealing room, imagining the next time I get to be in one. With him.

My manager gave Jason a job as a shift leader and I super enjoy working with him. It's tons of fun. Plus customers love hearing that we're engaged and then they put our names on the Costa Vida survey which means our manager thinks we're just stellar employees. Which we are, but also people just think we're cute. Which we also are.

Last Thursday we took my roommate Kaylee and her fiance to the airport and then stopped in Salt Lake for a few hours and walked around Temple Square and watched missionary videos and looked at the Christus and got cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. That was pretty much one of my favorite dates we've had.

Porter, Evelyn and Olivia
A few days ago we took a day trip up to Brigham City to meet our new niece Olivia! She is adorable and I am so so excited that when we get married I'll simultaneously become an aunt to three of the cutest kids I've ever met. I'm only slightly miffed that Dayna and Andrew (Jason's sister and brother-in-law) stole the only girl name I've ever liked.

And when we're not doing fun things we're studying and staying up too late and listening to the CD my mom gave us of Dr. John Lund's marriage advice and going to school (sometimes) and working and trying to plan a wedding amidst all of that. So our lives are kind of crazy these days. But it's the best kind of crazy.
I have no reason for putting these pictures
in except that I think they're adorable.
