I gotta say, this has been the absolute craziest summer of my entire life. Between EFY, Girls Camp, Trek, HARC, family reunions, dates, and cross country practice twice a day, I'm pretty sure the majority of my waking hours have been spent away from home. Still, this has hands down been the best summer of my life. Every summer Mom has us make four goals and when I was younger I absolutely hated it. Now I appreciate the opportunity to try new things. This may be the first summer that I accomplished every one of them, which is good because it was my last summer (scary thought!!) I spent all my free time running 600 miles, learning to vibrato on my violin, reading some nonfiction books, and reading the entire Book of Mormon.
Now school has started. It's a little strange to start thinking about college, and life after high school in general. For some reason I've always pictured graduation as the end of everything, and only recently have I started to realize that in fact it's only the beginning. I'm a little excited, mostly totally freaked out. Luckily I've still got nine months to prepare myself to be an adult. In the meantime, I'm planning to make this school year the best one yet. I don't have nearly as hard a course load as last year, so I have a little time to spend practicing piano and violin, hanging out with friends, reading lots and lots of books for my AP Literature class, and of course running with the cross country team. In fact, yesterday morning we got up at 5:00 and drove out to Deseret Peak, (a popular hiking spot out past Grantsville), to run up to the top. Actually, we hiked most of the 3.75 mile climb since it was pretty steep, but once we finally reached the top the view was incredible! Also it looked kind of like what I would expect Mars to look like, pretty brown and barren with some random rocks jutting out of the landscape. I wish I had some pictures and I'll try to be better at taking more...
In the meantime I'll borrow from Mom's blog and hope she doesn't mind too much. :)

| Here's me and Nate at our 2nd race of the season, which we both did pretty awesome at if I do say so myself. |
And here's the three of us after we finished the Crandall Canyon Half Marathon down in Huntington. We were feeling pretty impressed with ourselves until we got back to Grandma's, only to find out that the Olympic bike race had been going on for nearly six hours. Suddenly a two hour run didn't seem so impressive but we sure had fun!

| Mom would've been faster but she felt the need to stop and take pictures along the way. :) |
